“…Quanto a idade, 81,8% dos animais pertenciam à faixa etária inferior aos 24 meses, a semelhança dos casos relatados no Semiárido Nordestino (12) . Conforme citado por Assis et al (83) , várias etiologias nutricionais estão implicadas no aparecimento da enfermidade. Neste estudo foi observado que a alimentação dos animais era variada, porém em mais de 50% dos casos havia o fornecimento de silagem de milho e ração farelada, o que pode ser relacionado com distúrbios do ecossistema ruminal e intestinal nas criações intensivas com fornecimento abundante de carboidratos (84) , fato reforçado pela maior ocorrência justamente no período de maior escassez de alimentos na região.…”
