“…The content of GSH and oxidized glutathione (GSSG) was measured according to the Solarbio reagent kit. The oxalic acid method was used for the determination of AsA levels in wucai leaves (Zhou et al., 2017). The reaction solution was used to assay AsA and dehydroascorbate (DHA) content by high‐performance liquid chromatography (Thermo Fisher Scientific).…”

“…It is documented that external supply of moderate ascorbic acid (≤50 mg L −1 ) mediates Mn toxicity in V. natans via antioxidant defence system, cytomembrane stability, soluble material, and photosynthetic pigment, but high dose of ascorbic acid (≥100 mg L −1 ) exacerbates Mn toxicity, although the pathway by which excess ascorbic acid inversely acts as a stress factor remains vague [54]. The extra addition of ascorbic acid at 1 mM alleviates Mn stress in hydroponic non-heading Chinese cabbage [55], and foliar spray of 5-10 µM ascorbic acid mitigates Mn toxicity in cowpea [56]. Further, transgenic technology has been adopted to increase foliar ascorbate levels as a strategy to adapt to multiple abiotic stresses, including Mn toxicity in rice [57].…”

“…It implies a possible function related to DNA methylation and the epigenetic modulation of gene expression. Multiple plants differ in global methylation patterns elicited by excess copper and nickel [88,[91][92][93]. Different methylation patterns may also persist in later developmental stages to facilitate long-term adaptation to metal-contaminated sites [91].…”
