Ascogregarina (Apicomplexa: Lecudinidae): An overview of its distribution and pathogenicity on Aedes aegypti and Ae. albopictus development

Abstract: As ascogregarinas são protozoários, pertencentes ao filo Apicomplexa, que parasitam várias espécies de invertebrados, incluindo algumas importantes espécies de mosquitos envolvidas na transmissão de arboviroses, como dengue, febre amarela, chikungunya e zika. As espécies gregarinas mais frequentemente reportadas em mosquitos são Ascogregarina culicis, A. taiwanensis e A. barreti, as quais possuem Aedes aegypti, Ae. albopictus e Ae. triseriatus como hospedeiros naturais, respectivamente.
