This study delves into the intricate social dynamics beneath South Kalimantan's traditional diamond mines, revealing a potential for conflict amidst the promise of economic uplift. Going beyond conventional economic and environmental perspectives, the research employs Galtung's Conflict Theory, examining the interplay of attitudes, behaviours, norms, values, and political influences. By adopting this nuanced approach, the study unveils hidden fault lines within these communities, providing a comprehensive understanding of how diverse factors converge to create discord. The consequences of unaddressed conflict include shattered livelihoods, environmental degradation, and fractured communities. The study employs rigorous quantitative methods to empower stakeholders in proactive conflict management, including questionnaires and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with data from 400 respondents. The findings underscore the significant roles of behaviours, attitudes, norms, and politics in fueling tension, with values demonstrating surprisingly less direct influence. This insight is a roadmap for conflict prevention and sustainable development, allowing stakeholders to tailor interventions based on specific conflict-driving factors. The study urges a shift from reactive to proactive measures, envisioning a future where prosperity continues to glimmer and communities thrive in harmony, free from conflict.

“…La formalización de la minería artesanal y pequeña de carbón es un proceso complejo y urgente, influenciado por las conexiones entre desarrollo, control político y calma social; sin embargo, algunas cooperativas rechazan esta formalización al considerarla una traición al movimiento social (ANNA, 2023). La Figura 1 nos muestra los principales 9 factores que no permiten el proceso de formalización en minas de oro que van desde la corrupción hasta la falta de voluntad de los mineros (BANSAH, 2023). A pesar de los esfuerzos, la formalización legal de las MAPE sigue siendo inadecuada, ya que más del 85% de las operaciones siguen siendo informales e ilegales; esto se debe a problemas con las regulaciones, licencias incompatibles y falta de respaldo institucional (KUMAH, 2022).…”

En la actualidad, gran cantidad de personas están involucrados en la minería a pequeña escala; esta actividad está intrínsecamente vinculadas a los precios globales del oro, lo cual subraya la importancia de contar con apoyo tecnológico y gubernamental para ser sostenibles económica y ambientalmente. Objetivo: Debido a la alta volatilidad de los precios del oro el objetivo del estudio fue determinar el comportamiento del precio del metal en los próximos años explorando una relación con la producción de los mineros de pequeña escala en el Perú. Métodos: Se evaluó el precio mensualizado del oro desde año 2010 hasta el 2023 utilizando el modelo ARIMA y series de tiempo, con Rstudio y datos de InverstingPro y del Ministerio de Energía y Minas de Perú. Resultados: La predicción del precio del oro es un gran desafío por la volatilidad del metal, el modelo ARIMA es un método poderoso junto con las series de tiempo que ha permitido establecer que para el año 2025 el precio del oro estaría por los 2500 dólares la onza con un margen de error de 3.56%. Mientras que el crecimiento de la minería de oro en pequeña escala sigue creciendo de manera incontrolable. Conclusión: ARIMA y series de tiempo son herramientas estadísticas que permiten hacer pronósticos con cierta certeza y confiabilidad, mientras que la minería de pequeña escala mereces ser ordenada y formalizada para que sea sostenible.
