Artificial neural networks and genetic algorithm modelling and identification of arc parameter in insulators flashover voltage and leakage current

Abstract: In this paper, we present an optimisation method based on genetic algorithms and artificial neural networks (ANN) experimental data from artificially polluted insulators for the determination of the arc constants and dielectric properties in the surface. The study of flashover phenomenon in polluted insulators has not yet been described accurately through a mathematical model. The definitions of arc constants are very difficult, which is created in the dry bands when the voltage exceeds its critical value. In … Show more

“…The past investigations carried out to addressethis problem may be groupedeas naturaletestings, laboratorye testings of polluted insulators, prediction of pollution flashover of insulators using intelligent systems and mathematical models. The intelligent systems such as artificial neural network (ANN) have been used in predicting the pollution flashover voltages [1]. The description of the propagating arc comprising of a partial arc in series of unabridged portion of the polluted layer resistance is a common characteristic of the mathematical models proposed by researchers [5][6][7][8].…”

“…Besides, the chip development and the framework portrayal of the surface harm are as yet obscure. Microscopic limited component model will address the impact of the cutting parameter and apparatus geometry on the chip arrangement process, just as certain plans to improve the machining of cell metals [11] conveyed that Business process Re-Engineering (BPR) takes the Radical Redesigning unpredictable and dynamic procedures in Research and advancement (R&D) associations with multi-layer ventures is a strenuous errand. In this article our aims in developing the models to determine the complete expense, a sum of material managing expense for the three planning horizon for five appliances combination assigned for various operations, when the appliances are assigned in a row of a cellular fabricating framework, we have taken the material managing and relocation expense values and their results of dynamic and static comparing environments to give optimum single row sketch in static environment.…”

“…Intelligent techniques such as fuzzy logic [4], Support Vector Machine (SVM) [5], Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) [6][7][8], Hidden Markov Model (HMM) [9], K-means clustering [10], Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) [11], S-Transform [12], have been extensively used in electrical power system and high voltage engineering problems. These intelligent systems can be successfully utilized for the condition monitoring of high-voltage outdoor insulators to increase the reliability of power system transmission and distribution as well as minimize human efforts and cost [13].…”
