Arthroconidia in lung tissue: an unusual histopathological finding in pulmonary coccidioidomycosis

Abstract: Coccidioides immitis/posadasii presents in mycelial form with branching hyphae and arthroconidia when cultured in the laboratory. On histopathology, the presence of endospore-containing spherules is considered diagnostic of coccidioidomycosis.
