Armeniacae semen Extract Suppresses Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Expressions of Cycloosygenase-2 and Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase in Mouse BV2 Microglial Cells

Abstract: Armeniacae semen is the seed of Prunus armeniaca L. var. ansu MAXIM, which has been classified into Rosaceae. Armeniacae semen is known to have many therapeutic effects such as relieving fever, stopping cough, quenching thirst, and so on. In traditional oriental medicine, Armeniacae semen has been used for the treatment of asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, constipation, nausea, leprosy, and leucoderma.1,2) Armeniacae semen is divided into the outer husk and an inner part that contains glycoside, amygdaline, starc… Show more

“…Armeniacae semen is divided into the outer husk and an inner part that contains glycoside, amygdaline, starch, and fatty acids. According Chang et al (2005), Armeniacae semen extract suppressed LPS-induced expressions of COX-2. Among Armeniacae semen, amygdalin is abundant in the seeds of the Prunus genus almond, apricots, and other rosaceous plants.…”

“…Including in the Prunasins, Armeniacae semen has also been used for the treatment of colorectal cancer, leucoderma, bronchitis, emphysema, asthma, leprosy and pain. [29,30,31] The structure of Amygdalin contains two molecules of glucose, one of benzaldehyde that induces an analgesic action, and one of hydrocyanic acid, that is an anti-neoplastic compound. Over the above actions, Amygdalin has been shown to treat several types of cancer as well as a pain relief.…”
