“…However, men are less willing to invest in sexy mates who lack commitment traits. This is at odds with the males-compete/females-choose hypothesis, and converges with several recent findings suggesting that sex differences are exaggerated (Thomas & Stewart-Williams, 2018;Hallam et al, 2018;Stewart-Williams & Thomas, 2013;Zentner & Mitura, 2012).…”

Traditional accounts maintain that men are more short-term oriented (Schmitt et al, 2012;Schmitt, 2012), although this perspective has faced recent criticisms (Thomas & Stewart-Williams, 2018;Hallam et al, 2018;Stewart-Williams & Thomas, 2013;Zentner & Mitura, 2012). Although we do not find sex differences in preferred relationship length, we did observe an interaction with archetype, such that women's preferences were more distinctive than those reported by men.…”

“…We aimed to illuminate the relation between Light Triad and motivations to use Tinder for mating by testing the association between the Light Triad and Tinder use motivation. Sociosexuality is a dominant predictor of online dating and is related to age, therefore we controlled for these variables in our analyses (Hallam et al, 2018). Our findings showed that reporting higher levels of the Light Triad predicted the motivation to use Tinder for finding a long-term mate, whereas the Light Triad did not predict the motivation to use Tinder for short-term mating.…”

“…In addition, unrestricted socio-sexuality is positively associated with mating effort maximization, while restricted sociosexuality is more closely related to parental efforts (Valentova et al, 2020). Finally, unrestricted sociosexuality positively correlates with openness to casual sex among online dating site users (Hallam et al, 2018). However, a related study found that unrestricted sociosexuality was associated with participants' willingness to engage in casual sex only when it was accompanied by a low level of commitment in a long-term relationship (Rodrigues and Lopes, 2017).…”
