Are cd68 and factor viii-ra expression different in central and peripheral giant cell granuloma of jaw: an immunohistochemical comparative study

Abstract: These findings support the histiocyte/macrophage nature of multinucleated giant cells and mononuclear cells. Overexpression and high intensity score of CD68 in mononuclear cells and the high intensity score of factor VIII-RA in endothelial cells represent less aggressive behavior in central giant cell granuloma.

“…On the other hand, large peripheral vessels were labeled with von Willebrand. This result is consistent with the study of Sargolzaei [24], suggesting that the involvement of von Willebrand represents an in ammatory response in PGCG and the production of pro-angiogenic factors.…”

“…Controversy still exists regarding the nature of MSCs as it is said to have fibroblast, myofibroblast, macrophage, or endothelial origin. [ 18 50 ] Vered et al . [ 37 ] suggested that the MSCs in CGCLs undergo a dynamic process of transdifferentiation rather than existing in a constant state.…”
