Arbuzov meets 1,2-oxaphosphetanes: transient 1,2-oxaphosphetan-2-iums as an entry point to beta-halo phosphane oxides and P-containing oligomers

Where to go? Synthesis and reactions of a C-unsubstituted 1,2σ3λ3-oxaphosphetane with alkyl halides are described, forming β-halo phosphane oxides in an Arbuzov-type reaction. In the case of methyl triflate, oligomerization was observed.
