Araştırmada Sorumlu Davranış Konusunda Algılanan Hazırbulunuşluk Ölçeğinin Türkçeye Uyarlanması

Abstract

This study is part of a larger research project on the needs and experiences of graduate students concerning research and publication ethics. Ethical violations in publication and research processes cause harm to the institutions, academic fields, and individual researchers themselves. Among other reasons, inadequate formal training and resulting in limited knowledge on the issue are considered as the main reasons for low preparedness for ethical conduct in research and publication. In Turkey, there is no measure of preparedness for responsible conduct of research, which indicates a glaring gap in training of the graduate students on this matter. Based on this gap, the purpose of this study is to adapt Fisher et al.'s (2009) Responsible Conduct of Research Perceived Preparedness Scale designed for graduate students into Turkish. Two studies with two different samples were conducted to test the validity and reliability of the adapted scale. The first study was the pilot study, and the data collected from 518 graduate students were used to conduct exploratory factor analysis (EFA). The second study was the main study in which confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was run with the data gathered from 334 graduate students. The results of EFA and CFA were in line with the results presented by Fisher et al., and a uni-dimensional and 22-item scale was adapted to Turkish in this study.
