Divergent thinking (DT) tests are probably the most commonly used measures of creative potential. Several extensive batteries are available but most research relies on one or two specific tests rather than a complete battery. This may limit generalizations because tests of DT are not equivalent. They are not always highly inter-correlated. Additionally, some DT tests appear to be better than others at eliciting originality. This is critical because originality is vital for creativity. The primary purpose of the present study was to determine which test of DT elicits the most originality. Seven measures of DTwere administered on a sample of 611 participants in eight Arabic countries. The tests were Figural, Titles, Realistic Presented Problems, Realistic Problem Generation, Instances, Uses, and Similarities. The Quick Test of Convergent Thinking, Runco's Ideational Behavior Scale, and a demographic questionnaire were also administered. A linear mixed model analysis confirmed that the originality scores in the DT tests differed by test. Post-hoc tests indicated that the Titles and Realistic Problem Generation tests produced the highest mean originality scores, whereas the Realistic Presented Problems test produced the lowest mean originality scores. These differences confirm that research using only one DT test will not provide generalizable results.Creative behaviour has being recognized as among the most important forms of human capital. Its role in innovation, invention, design and advance in a wide range of domains is now broadly recognized. Efforts to enhance creative skills are on the rise, as are efforts to accurately assess creative potential and creative behaviour.

Recently, Generative Pretrained Transformer (GPT) has demonstrated significant advancements in a variety of language-related tasks, including machine translation. However, many studies that evaluated the performance of ChatGPT in translation tasks focused on general texts. Consequently, the primary objective of this study was to assess how well GPT-3, can translate figurative language content from Arabic into English and vice versa and compare its performance with that of human translators. To achieve this objective, the study selected some passages from Gharkas (2003) focusing on different topics which included figurative language. These passages underwent translation by both a professional human translator and GPT-3. The study evaluated translation performance of GPT-3 against human translation using qualitative criteria. The criteria included accuracy, fluency, cohesion, and coherence, and translating figurative language. The findings of the analysis of these passages revealed that GPT-3 generated translations that were generally comprehensible but fell short in capturing figurative language in comparison to human translation. The results indicated that GPT-3 rendered similar number of sentences if the ST was English. However, when the ST was Arabic, GPT-3 reduced the length of long Arabic sentences and divided them to be shorter.

In Modern Standard Arabic texts are typically written without diacritical markings. The diacritics are important to clarify the sense and meaning of words. Lack of these markings may lead to ambiguity even for the natives. Often the natives successfully disambiguate the meaning through the context; however, many Arabic applications, such as machine translation, text-to-speech, and information retrieval, are vulnerable due to lack of diacritics. The process of automatically restoring diacritical marks is called diacritization or diacritic restoration. In this paper we discuss the properties of the Arabic language and the issues that are related to the lack of the diacritical marking. It will be followed by a survey of the recent algorithms that were developed to solve the diacritization problem. We also look into the future trend for researchers working in this area.
