“…12,32,38 Carbon supports for Pt catalysts in the APR process have recently attracted much scientific attention. Such carbon supports as Vulcan active carbon (Pt 12,32,38,39 and Pt-M, M = Re, Ru, Os, Fe, Cu, Sn, Ir 15 ), activated carbon (Pt, 23,40,41 Pt-Re 42,43 ), carbon fibers (Pt and Pt-Ru), 44 single-walled carbon nanotubes SWNTs (Pt and Pt-Co), [45][46][47][48] ordered mesoporous carbon CMK-3 (Pt, 49 Pt-Mn, 50 Pt-Re 51 ) have been successfully investigated in the APR of polyols. “…King et al (2010) performed experiments for the APR of glycerol over Pt/C and Pt-Re/C catalysts, and found that adding Re to Pt promoted the conversion of glycerol and H 2 selectivity. It was suggested that Re might have a dual effect on Pt: first, the formation of the Pt-Re alloy led to an increased rate of dehydrogenation and decarbonylation; second, ReO x led to liquid products and alkanes.…”
