Aquaculture Site Selection of Oncorhynchus Mykiss (Rainbow Trout) in Markazi Province Using GIS-Based MCDM

Abstract: The production of seafood, particularly in areas far from coastlines, makes aquaculture an optional farming alternative. Case research from the semi-arid Markazi province, Iran, is examined as a viable aquaculture location for Oncorhynchus mykiss (rainbow trout). ArcGIS Version 10.6.1 and Super Decision Version 3.2 software are utilized for the zoning and assessment of criteria maps. All criteria, i.e., sub-criteria and limitations, were gathered through the academic literature, qualitative interviews via expe… Show more

“…In addition to the available geophysical tools, which have their own physical properties, a number of other potential methods based on geotechnology are available [11], which have been integrated with other approaches (e.g., the AHP, ANP, and MCDM methods), to identify the sites most appropriate for inland aquaculture [12,20,21,[78][79][80][81][82]]. An integrated approach of this type was applied to select sites for fish farming in M'diq Bay in Morocco [6].…”

“…Aquaculture can be considered as a significant contributor towards the global blue economy, which is a key component in the advancing blue economy in Australia. As the higher growth rates of production in aquaculture farms with higher penetration of sea water, producers are now installing farms far from the mainland to increase productivity [68]. These offshore off-grid operations are now provided mostly by AC generators which are operated using diesel and other fossil fuels.…”
