Aptamer-Conjugated Graphene Quantum Dots/Porphyrin Derivative Theranostic Agent for Intracellular Cancer-Related MicroRNA Detection and Fluorescence-Guided Photothermal/Photodynamic Synergetic Therapy

Abstract: Multifunctional theranostic platform coupling diagnostic and therapeutic functions holds great promise for personalized nanomedicine. Nevertheless, integrating consistently high performance in one single agent is still challenging. This work synthesized a sort of porphyrin derivatives (P) with high singlet oxygen generation ability and graphene quantum dots (GQDs) possessing good fluorescence properties. The P was conjugated to polyethylene glycol (PEG)ylated and aptamer-functionalized GQDs to gain a multifunc… Show more

“…Xiu et al studied the interactions between Ag NPs and bacterial cells (Figure 6). [77,82] Cu NPs that were incorporated into starch hydrogels [81] and functional polymer coatings [87] were found to display broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. Ag NPs with different coatings and sizes under aerobic conditions were found to release Ag + , resulting in significant bacteria reduction.…”

“…Compared with the above‐described monofunctional miRNA sensor, a fascinating multifunctional theranostic platform that coupled diagnostic and therapeutic functions and held great promise for personalized nanomedicine was fabricated by Cao and co‐workers . In this study, a porphyrin (P) derivative with high singlet oxygen generation ability and graphene GQDs possessing good fluorescence properties were synthesized.…”

“…24,25 Such accumulation not only enhances tumor imaging and PDT efficacy but also helps minimize phototoxic damage to normal tissues in PDT. 26,27 The mitochondrion, an ideal hypersensitive organelle, generates reactive oxygen species (ROS) and regulates apoptosis. [28][29][30] If the ROS is generated by PDT in the mitochondrion, the adjacent biomolecules are damaged directly and efficiently, activating the cell apoptosis signaling pathway and accelerating cell death.…”
