The angular distribution of Yb Lα1 and Lα2 lines after photoionization by a linearly polarized monochromatic photon beam from synchrotron radiation has been measured. The experiment was performed using a 5 × 5 µm2 x-ray beam and a high-resolution detection system designed for this experiment to resolve the Lα1 and Lα2 emission lines. The main advantage of the proposed experimental configuration is the elimination of geometrical effects, ensuring the independence of the experimental results from previously seen geometrical pitfalls. The experimental value of the degree of alignment parameter A20 shows very good agreement with the predicted theoretical value.
