Numerical analysis is a unique combination of mathematical and computing skills. It facilitates a deeper understanding of data analytics and machine learning software libraries, which are exploding in use and importance. However, it is a topic that continues to challenge students because it requires a confluence of conceptual, procedural, and computational skills and associated pedagogies. Therefore, it is valuable to identify effective pedagogies and tools to enhance and assess student numerical analysis skills. Despite the proliferation of mobile technology in postsecondary education, its role in the context of numerical analysis is largely unknown. This quasi-experimental pilot study used Practi, an educational mobile app designed to assess numerical analysis performance and promote both retrieval practice and deliberate practice, which have been shown to help improve performance and develop expertise. Participants were 32 undergraduate students enrolled in a second-year introductory Numerical Analysis course at a large North American university. They were prompted to use Practi to solve quizzes on a regular basis throughout the course, before and after each lecture, to promote deliberate practice and spaced retrieval. Results of a paired t-test analysis showed that Practi was able to detect improvement in student quiz performance after the lectures compared to before the lectures. Additionally, performance on the Practi quizzes after the lectures was positively associated with the overall course performance. This suggests that mobile apps supporting deliberate and retrieval practice can complement more traditional means of instruction and assessment of numerical analysis in postsecondary mathematics education.

Maksud diselenggarakannya penelitian ini ialah untuk memproduksi bahan ajar yang berbantuan Maple dengan penilaian yang sudah valid, praktis, dan efektif. Rangkaian penelitian mengacu pada sintaks ADDIE. Penelitian dilakukan di UIN Alauddin Makassar dengan subjek penelitian mahasiswa dari Jurusan Pendidikan Matematika spesifiknya angkatan 2018. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 38 mahasiswa. Instrumen yang diaplikasikan berupa lembar validasi, angket respon untuk mahasiswa, lembar keterlaksanaan produk, lembar observasi, dan lembar tes belajar. Hasil yang didapatkan ialah untuk penilaian valid mendapat kategori sangat valid karena skor rerata masuk dalam rentang 4,3≤M≤5. Penilaian kepraktisan mendapat kategori terlaksana seluruhnya sebab skor yang didapat masuk dalam rentang 1,5≤M≤2. Sementara penilaian keefektifan mendapat kategori tuntas dengan skor 84,21% untuk hasil belajar subjek penelitian, lalu pada pengamatan aktivitas mendapat kategori sangat baik sebab skornya masuk dalam rentang 80≤P≤100. Maka dari itu bahan ajar yang disusun dikatakan berhasil dan layak untuk diaplikasikan

Correspondence (truth) tables are the main model for the analysis of various logical expressions. Their applications go beyond the study of Boolean algebra. The Maple computer algebra system has a wide range of commands for working with propositions, obtaining and evaluating their truth, but the result of their execution is most often not represented in a perfectly normal form. The results obtained are undoubtedly useful, but do not contribute to the development of competencies in the field of modeling Boolean functions. In this case, using the programming methods of the Maple computer algebra system, as well as its ability to create interactive applications. The article presents the results of a study summarizing the experience of implementing computer algebra systems for modeling logical functions. To expand the possibilities, comply with the requirements of interactivity, the Maple computer algebra system was chosen as the main tool. The developed and presented interactive application allows you to automatically build Boolean functions based on their truth or falsity values and present the result in the form of perfect disjunctive or conjunctive normal forms. The authors presented the features of using the developed application. The main goal: to achieve an understanding of the process of building a model of Boolean functions, presented in a perfect disjunctive or conjunctive form, to help in the study of discrete mathematics, students of both technical and humanitarian specialties. In addition, evaluate your knowledge in this discipline.
