The purpose of this study is to analyze the advantages of plantation commodities in Jambi Province. Shift-Share Analysis and Location Quotient Analysis were used to analyze data. The research results conclude several things. First, there are the comparative advantages of oil palm and rubber throughout Jambi. Second, rubber and palm oil in the commodity base sector in Kerinci, Merangin, Batang Hari, Bungo; coffee and cinnamon are the base sectors in Kerinci, Merangin, Sorolangun; and, chocolate in Bungo and Kerinci. Third, palm oil and rubber are dominant and their growth potential in all areas in Jambi; coffee, cinnamon, cocoa plantations are dominant and their growth potential are in Kerinci, Merangin, Bungo; and, clove, coconut, areca nut, candlenut, kapok, sugar palm, vanilla, sugar cane, patchouli are less developed. Finally, there are three clusters oriented towards ease of market access, proximity of raw materials and availability of labor.

This research aimed to identify the key economic sectors that could uplift Musi Rawas Utara Regency from its underdeveloped status within Sumatra Selatan Province. The study employed a descriptive-analytical approach, which included analyzing primary sectors using the Location Quotient (LQ) method, determining leading sectors through Shift Share analysis, and assessing the contribution of the primary highest-value industry using Intra-Regional analysis. Among the 17 sectors contributing to the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), five were identified as primary sectors in Musi Rawas Utara Regency, with a significant dominance of the Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries sectors. However, Shift Share analysis revealed two leading sectors: education and health services with social activities. We identified seven potential sectors: industrial, infrastructure, and developing sectors. Developing sectors include agriculture, forestry, fisheries, mining and quarrying, and education. Meanwhile, five sectors were considered underdeveloped: the processing industry, construction, transportation and trade, financial services and insurance, government administration, defense, and taxpayer social security. LQ analysis emphasized that the agricultural and forestry sector is the primary sector in Musi Rawas Utara Regency, with palm oil production being a vital contributor. For the development of palm oil, Nibung and Karang Dapo districts require particular attention. Given Musi Rawas Utara Regency's disadvantaged status, optimizing agricultural sector development is crucial. By focusing on this sector, the region can enhance its economic performance, ultimately aiming to overcome its underdeveloped status and improve its financial outlook.

Regional development is an effort to maximize resources to improve community welfare. Local governments must identify the leading sector to facilitate the formulation of appropriate policies to achieve development goals. This study aims to identify the contribution trend, growth rate trend, and factors influencing the roles of the agriculture, forestry, and fishery sectors in Banyumas. The study employs secondary time series data from 2011 to 2020 of gross regional domestic income (GRDI) contribution in the agriculture, forestry, and fishery sectors and GRDI at constant 2010 prices. This analysis results show that time variable influences the contribution and growth rate of this sectors. Its value is expected to decrease each year. Agriculture, forestry, and fishery are classified as non-basic sectors with stars. Based on the Klassen typology analysis, these sectors are included in the category of potential sectors. According to the shift-share analysis, the roles of these sectors are influenced by the growth of national and regional shares. The government must develop priority sector development policies based on sector classification results analysis to maximize regional potential. It is critical to increase the motivation of the young generation to work in agriculture.
