Applying Isothermal Injection Moulding Process in the Manufacturing of Polymer Composite Reinforced with NiTi Shape Memory Alloy

Abstract: SMART materials have gained several applications in industries, especially aeronautical and biomedical. Therefore, the fabrication process of these materials must present quality in the completion and dimensioning, in addition to well established mechanical properties. In this sense, the Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) process is presented as an alternative to the manufacture of such products. This process presents advantages compared to other methods, such as, product quality and low cost. Thus, this work aims t… Show more

“…From the boundary conditions, at the mold inlets and outlets, and on its internal surfaces, it is possible, with considerable precision, to describe numerically, how mold filling occurs. Works that seek to understand, how voids are formed during filling of the preform, what is the best configuration of resin injectors and air outlets, what is the best manufacturing process, in terms of the quality of the finished part, how long is possible reductions in injection pressure levels, have applied numerical simulation and, which predicted results are extremely close of experimental ones [9,[22][23][24][25][26][27].…”
