Applying an Extended Theory of Planned Behavior for Sustaining a Landscape Restaurant

Abstract: This paper extended the theory of planning behavior (ETPB) to examine the antecedents of consumer behavioral intention in order to explore the sustainable factors of a landscape restaurant. Following theory of planned behavior (TPB) and the related literature for landscape perception and preference, we initially developed a preliminary list of items, and after the expert review and pre-test, we employed a 33-item measure under a five-factor structure and collected a total of 395 valid questionnaires. The empir… Show more

“…Comparing this model with others, the researchers came to the conclusion that TPB gives an adequate description of the relations between the concepts used [48,49]. In fact, many researchers use TPB efficiently while examining the influence of social norms on consumer behavioral intention [50,51] and pro-environmental behavior [52,53].…”

“…TPB considers the individual's personal, social, and environmental factors. TPB mainly uses three conceptually independent antecedents-attitudes (AT) toward the behavior, subjective norms (SN), and perceived behavioral control (PBC)-to predict behavioral intention (Liao and Fang 2019;Tommasetti et al 2018). The attitude (AT) towards a behavior refers to people's overall evaluation (positive or negative) or assessment of the behavior under study (Ajzen 1991).…”

“…Perceived behavioral control was measured using a 3-item scale. The behavioral intention scale was modified from the example in the study by Liao and Fang (2019). In total, three questions were asked about respondents' intention to adopt mobile payment for their business during the COVID-19 lockdown.…”

“…Thus, these theories are particularly relevant to the present study. Within the field of sustainability, they covered a large variety of contexts and behaviors: restauration [70], driving [71], transport and travel mode choice [72][73][74][75], green products and food [76][77][78], waste management, recycling [79,80], and agriculture [81,82].…”
