Applying a new systematic fuzzy FMEA technique for risk management in light steel frame systems

Abstract: Light Steel Frame (LSF) system is mainly used for construction of short and intermediate-height buildings in developed countries whereas considerable heed is not given to it in developing countries. Unfamiliarity to LSF risks is one of the main reasons for this averseness so risk management can remedy this challenge and develop its application. Hence, this paper investigates the risk management of LSF considering design, construction and operation phase. Three steps entailing risk identification, assessment an… Show more

“…Classical optimization models emphasize the presence of a criterion (or objective function), so the model may be linear, nonlinear, or mixed. In recent decades, however, researchers have focused on multi-criteria models for evaluating complex decisions [36][37].…”

“…Como destaca [4], o sistema LSF emerge como uma alternativa notável para a realização de edificações de forma racionalizada e sustentável. Sua natureza altamente industrializada resulta em considerável redução de desperdício de materiais durante a execução, contribuindo para uma abordagem mais sustentável.…”

“…As mentioned by [2,13], combining the FMEA method with fuzzy theory provides a more efficient tool than the classic FMEA method in the presence of imprecise information and uncertainty. Fuzzy Logic could be used to reduce the drawback in assessing and prioritizing failures of traditional FMEA with more certainty.…”
