This book is a collection of papers from another one of those personal hardship conferences. More than 200 statisticians were stranded on Nantucket Island for three whole days in October 1996. Subtitled Methods, Applications, and Future Directions, the book actually has a set of papers that are nicely focused toward applications. This particular book is more approachable than many of its companion volumes in the publisher's softcover series, Lecture Notes in Statistics (the one with books that have gold covers and a black band at the top).
