Applications of Nanofluids: Current and Future

Abstract: Nanofluids are suspensions of nanoparticles in fluids that show significant enhancement of their properties at modest nanoparticle concentrations. Many of the publications on nanofluids are about understanding their behavior so that they can be utilized where straight heat transfer enhancement is paramount as in many industrial applications, nuclear reactors, transportation, electronics as well as biomedicine and food. Nanofluid as a smart fluid, where heat transfer can be reduced or enhanced at will, has also… Show more

“…The characteristic feature of nanofluid is the thermal conductivity enhancement, a phenomena observed by Masuda et al [8]. Philip and Shima [9], Keblinski et al [10], Wong and Leon [11], Yu and Xie [12], Taylor et al [13] reported the developments in the study of heat transfer, using nanofluid.…”

“…По этой причине наножидкости с успехом могут применяться для охлаждения машин и агрегатов, в частности, в электронных системах, в теплоэнергетике при транспор-тировке тепловой энергии и т. п. В 2008 году Роутбортом с коллегами был разработан проект по применению наножидкостей в качестве хладогентов в промышленных установках (см. также [3]). …”

“…Nanofluids have superior thermophysical properties in comparison to conventional fluids. To illustrate, they have higher viscosity, thermal conductivity and convective heat transfer coefficients [16]. Faizal et al [17] and Alim et al [18] theoretically investigated the energy, economic and environmental impacts of using metal oxides nanofluid for a flat-plate solar collector.…”
