Applications of Multi-Scale Models to Numerical Simulation and Experimental Analysis of Anisotropic Elastoplastic Behavior of Metallic Sheets

Abstract: In this paper anisotropic mechanical behavior of AA2024 aluminum and Ti6Al4V titanium alloys were studied using three different approaches: unified, multi-mechanism and polycrystalline. The theoretical formulations of studied elastoplastic models are first described. Thereafter, some numerical results concerning the simulation of a uniaxial tension test applied to thin metallic sheets are presented. Comparison between experimental results (taken from the literature) and numerical simulations shows that the mul… Show more

“…There are many possibilities for extending the isotropic criteria to the description of anisotropic materials [3][4][5]. The method generally used to take into account a 3D anisotropy is to involve a tensor of fourth order into the criterion expression [5][6][7][8][9]. An anisotropic yield loci can be written as a quadratic extension of the von Mises formulation as can be seen in Table 2 which summarizes the general constitutive equations of a macroscopic unified model and of anisotropic Hill 1948 criteria.…”

“…The main mechanical properties of this aluminium alloy are defined by an ultimate tensile strength higher than 420 MPa, a HB hardness around 120 Kgf/mm 2 and a yield strength at 0.2% greater than 260 MPa. Experimental and numerical identification of anisotropic elasto-plastic parameters are shown in Tables 1 and 2, starting from previous experimental, theoretical and numerical works [9][10][11] concerning the analysis of bulk plastic anisotropic behaviour realized by GCGM Laboratory of National Institute of Applied Sciences of Rennes.…”
