Applications of Dampers for Vibration Control of Structures: An Overview

Abstract: Dampers have become more popular recently for vibration control of structures, because of their safe, effective and economical design. This paper presents an overview of literature related to the behavior of dampers on seismically affected structures. The review includes different types of dampers like metallic dampers, viscoelastic dampers, frictional dampers etc.
