Solar energy generated by grid-connected photovoltaic (GCPV) systems is considered an important alternative electric energy source because of its clean energy production system, easy installation, and low operating and maintenance costs. This has led to it becoming more popular compared with other resources. However, finding optimal sites for the construction of solar farms is a complex task with many factors to be taken into account (environmental, social, legal and political, technical-economic, etc.), which classic site selection models do not address efficiently. There are few studies on the criteria that should be used when identifying sites for solar energy installations (large grid-connected photovoltaic systems which have more than 100 kWp of installed capacity). It is therefore essential to change the way site selection processes are approached and to seek new methodologies for location analysis. A geographic information system (GIS) is a tool which can provide an effective solution to this problem. Here, we combine legal, political, and environmental criteria, which include solar radiation intensity, local physical terrain, environment, and climate, as well as location criteria such as the distance from roads and the nearest power substations. Additionally, we use GIS data (time series of solar radiation, digital elevation models (DEM), land cover, and temperature) as further input parameters. Each individual site is assessed using a unique and cohesive approach to select the most appropriate locations for solar farm development in the Valencian Community, a Spanish region in the east of Spain.

The productivity of shell and tube heat exchangers are governed by various geometrical parameters like tube diameter, tube thickness, tube length, tube pitch, tube layout, installation area and baffle spacing of the heat exchanger. The operational efficiency of heat exchangers is highly influenced by the characteristics of heat exchanger parameters. The exchanger efficiency gets trapped due to many incongruities’ effects like over-pressure, bio-fouling, chemical fouling and corrosion. The selection of optimum design configuration is essential to achieve higher operational efficiency for a heat exchanger. But the performance and reliability of the optimization process play a key role in selecting and deselecting significant and insignificant parameters, respectively. So, cognitive selection of parameters and henceforth a reliable optimization process is required to identify optimal design for a heat exchanger. Moreover, economic factors also contribute to attain a consolidated yield result for a heat exchanger. This research proposes an optimal configuration with the help of ensemble output obtained by multi-criteria decision making and nature-based optimization algorithm. It has been found that exchange efficiency in optimal configuration is boosted by 22% from prototype heat exchanger.

Employee assessment is needed in evaluating performance and granting rewards to employees. PT. Kupu-Kupu Taman Lestari conducts an employee performance appraisal using Microsoft Excel. The growth of employee data and assessment variables resulted in the calculation method that was carried out could not provide employee ranking information quickly. The application of Microsoft Excel in processing employee valuation data has weaknesses in data documentation. The purpose of this study is the company has a website-based decision support system that makes it easy for companies to get employee performance appraisal information. The employee performance data ranking method used is the Analytical Network Process (ANP) and the performance evaluation criteria are prepared based on the Behaviorally Anchor Rating Scale (BARS) approach. BARS is used in determining criteria along with a scale of behavior that represents the performance of each criterion. ANP is used to process data of importance between criteria so that it can produce criteria weights based on a comparison between criteria. The results of this study are website-based decision support systems that can be accessed by company management via a web browser. System testing is built based on testing manual calculations with the system and testing the user's system according to the McCall model. The system calculation test shows that the system has produced the same calculation value as the manual calculation. System user testing shows that the system built meets user needs, displays information according to user input correctly, is safe from unauthorized parties, and the system is easy to use.
