Applications Of A 3-D Geographic Information System For Leased Plantation Management Of National Forest In Taiwan

Abstract: Leased Plantation management of national forest in Taiwan involves monitoring land use changes to avoid environmental impacts. A self-developed 3-D GIS was implemented to answer querries with image, graphic, and attributes. Technique transfer of the 3-D GIS is easy. It is cheapand efficient. The creation of the data base is the major difficulty should be overcome. Tasks involving digitizing existing leased plantation maps are the key problems should be solved for the island wide application.
