Applications: A Mathematical Model for the Height of a Satellite

Abstract: This manuscript was developed from the work done in a 1990 summer in-service institute for secondary school teachers. The ideas presented have been used in numerous other in-service institutes and workshops in Florida. We would like to thank our fellow institute participants for their help in analyzing the situation and developing this model. The institute was designed by William H. Caldwell, intetim director of the Florida Institute of Education. The instructor for the two-week program wa Joby Anthony.
