Abstract:This paper explores the application of a statistical analysis technique known as 'wavestrapping' to a railway data analysis problem in train aerodynamics. This simulation technique is used to reproduce/reconstruct signals with the same statistical properties of the initial signal(s) and to estimate an extreme value in train aerodynamics. This technique is compared with the method currently used in practice to estimate the peak value of slipstream air speed, according with the European standard EN 14067.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
