Application of ultra wideband RF energy harvesting by using multisection Wilkinson power combiner

Abstract: In this study, an ultra-wide band (UWB) energy harvesting circuit was proposed using the Greinacher rectifier circuit. The circuit was designed with Wilkinson power combiner (WPC) for use at two different radio frequency signal inputs. To enable broadband operation, the multisection Chebyshev impedance matching technique was applied in the branches of the WPC circuit. The center frequency was selected 2.2 GHz in the design. In terms of the parameters of reflection, transmission and isolation, the WPC circuit o… Show more

“…THE process of obtaining direct current (DC) and voltage by using the energy of the radio frequencies (RF) is called as RF energy harvesting process. Whether communication devices use or not, the RF energy moves as electromagnetic waves in the environment . Today, the aim of RF energy harvesting studies is to catch these electromagnetic waves, which move freely in the environment, and to convert them so that they will be suitable for the use of low‐power‐consuming devices and sensors .…”

“…In order to achieve this goal, the concept of power recycling has been implemented in literature using a branch-line coupler. 8 Recently, different types of rectifying circuit topologies, such as broadband, [9][10][11][12] ultrawideband, 13 multiband, [14][15][16][17][18][19][20] and so on have been reported for obtaining high efficiency. A broad band rectenna with the CPW feeding technique for the rectifying circuit has been earlier proposed in order to enhance the RF to dc conversion efficiency up to 73.4%.…”

“…Nowadays, the rapid increase of wireless communication leads to a great demand in designing multiband components. [4][5][6] Many dual-band (DB) WPDs have been presented with only resistors, [7][8][9][10][11] open/short-ended stubs, 12,13 or lumped elements. [14][15][16][17][18][19][20] The WPD topology consisted of two-section transmission lines (TLs) and resistors are proposed in References 7-9, which has limited frequency ratio range (from 1 to 3) due to using equal physical lengths of TLs.…”
