Application of the Swarm Intelligence Algorithm for Reconstructing the Cooling Conditions of Steel Ingot Continuous Casting

Abstract: This paper presents a proposal to apply one of the swarm intelligence algorithms, the artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm, to solve the inverse problem of steel ingot continuous casting. The discussed task consists of retrieving the cooling conditions of the process on the basis of temperature measurements and by taking into account the macrosegregation phenomenon.
