Application of the Remote Interaction Effect and Molecular Imprinting in Sorption of Target Ions of Rare Earth Metals

Abstract: The goal of the present work is a comparative study of the effectiveness of the application of intergel systems and molecularly imprinted polymers for the selective sorption and separation of neodymium and scandium ions. The following physico-chemical methods of analysis were used in this study: colorimetry and atomic-emission spectroscopy. The functional polymers of polyacrylic acid (hPAA) and poly-4-vinylpyridine (hP4VP) in the intergel system undergo significant changes in the initial sorption properties. T… Show more

“…Then 1.5 mL of methanol, ethyl acetate, acetonitrile, acetonitrile: water (1:1) solution including AM 2.0 μg/mL was added into each. Finally, they were placed on a shaker at 120 rpm for 3 h, and then allowed to stand for 24 h for further sorption of the analyte on the MIP and the polymer adsorption process has reached equilibrium 39,40 . Each solution was filtered, and the filtrate was analyzed by high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) using an autosampler Shimadzu LC2030A HPLC system with PDA detector, Hypersil C18 analytical column (150 × 4.6 mm, 5 μm, Shimadzu) with methanol and 1% acetic acid mobile phase (95:5, v/v) at a wavelength of 316 nm.…”

“…Jumadilov et al [8] studied the effectiveness of the application of intergel systems and MIPs for the selective sorption and separation of neodymium and scandium ions. The intergel system method was proven cheaper and easier in this application; however, some accompanying sorption of another metal from the model solution was observed.…”
