Application of Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy in the Screening of Pulmonary Adenocarcinoma Nodules

Abstract: This study is aimed at evaluating the feasibility of a screening method for the pulmonary adenocarcinoma nodules through surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). Objective. Using SERS to measure serum from pulmonary nodules and healthy subjects, intraoperative biopsy pathological diagnosis was regarded as the gold standard for labeling serum samples. To explore the application value of SERS in the differential diagnosis of pulmonary adenocarcinoma nodules, benign nodules, and healthy, we build a machine lea… Show more

“…The model ultimately achieved an accuracy of 93.33% in differentiating among these three groups of samples. The results highlight the potential of using nanoparticle-based SERS techniques in combination with SVM to assist in clinical diagnostic efforts and screening for LUAD ( Peng et al, 2022 ). Hollow gold nanospheres (HGNs) have substantial single-particle enhancement effects, with hotspots localized on the pinholes found inside their structure ( Figure 3 ).…”

“…This is not only highly accurate, which assists in early screening, but also has the advantage of being non-invasive and causing no harm to the patient. [80] Furthermore, both the PCA-RF algorithm and the PCA-kNN algorithm developed by Elec et al have good classification results for serum samples of kidney cancer. [81] Apart from blood samples, the method applies to the analysis of a variety of other body fluid samples such as tears, urine, saliva, etc.…”

“…employed the SVM method to analyze the SERS spectra of serum samples and showed good screening for lung adenocarcinoma nodules with an accuracy of 93.33 %. This is not only highly accurate, which assists in early screening, but also has the advantage of being non‐invasive and causing no harm to the patient [80] . Furthermore, both the PCA‐RF algorithm and the PCA‐kNN algorithm developed by Elec et al.…”
