Application of simple examination and retrieval procedure in evolutionary algorithms for feeder reconfiguration

Abstract: SUMMARYThis paper presents an effective approach based on simple examination and retrieval procedure (SERP) that can be used in evolutionary algorithms, such as genetic algorithm (GA) and binary particle swarm optimization (BPSO), for solving distribution feeder reconfiguration problems. The proposed approach is able to improve the search efficiency by identifying and modifying the illegal chromosomes that represent switching operation plans. The concept of simple examination is done by checking the numbers of… Show more

“…The proposed algorithm was tested in five test systems (16-bus and threefeeder system, 33-bus system, 70-bus system, 69-bus and two-feeder system, and an 83-bus and two-feeder system). Similar approaches are developed in [47] and [58].…”

“…In the last two systems, EICPSO was shown to be faster than the other techniques; even in the bigger system, it reached the optima when other algorithms could not. Similar approaches are developed in [47], [50], and [57].…”
