Application of potential accessibility models in decision-making on HSR routing: the case of Rapid Connections in Czechia

Abstract: The aim of this article is to discuss regional impacts of high-speed railways on transportation accessibility. It investigates the potential changes in the transportation accessibility of Czech municipalities due to the planned construction of high-speed rail lines in Czechia. It considers two currently discussed variants of the high-speed rail line between Prague and Brno. We discuss the model of potential transportation accessibility and discuss its usability in the preparation and construction of high-speed… Show more

“…Therefore, accessibility has usually been considered a spatial-temporal indicator. During decades of research, many methods and models have been produced to evaluate spatial accessibility, among which potential models [11][12][13], the Huff model [14], the kernel density method [15] and the two-step floating catchment area (2SFCA) method [16] have been widely used. Among the many spatial accessibility evaluation methods, the 2SFCA method and the potential model are the most widely used, the factors considered are the most comprehensive and the theoretical basis of both models is similar.…”

“…Dojížďka představuje každodenní prostorovou mobilitu obyvatel, která je pravidelná a vratná, přičemž ji lze definovat pomocí intenzity interakce vyjadřující sílu prostorových interakcí městských a venkovských obcí (Tesla a Horák 2015). Na vykonávání základních činností lidského života, jako je dojížďka, má základní vliv kvalita dopravní infrastruktury (Randák et al 2021), přičemž dosavadní výzkum se věnuje především studiu změn dostupnosti a souvisejících vlivů na atraktivitu území (např. Maier a Franke 2019).…”
