Application of Photocatalytic Reduction Method with TiO2 for Gold Recovery

Abstract: For replacing the un-ecofriendly gold recovery methods, photoreduction catalyzed by TiO 2 is proposed as an environmentally benign alternative method for gold recovery. In this study, the photocatalytic reduction was carried out by batch technique, in which the influences of reaction time, TiO 2 photocatalyst dose, and initial Au(III) concentration were evaluated to get the optimal condition. In addition, the influence of Ag(I), Cu(II), and Fe(III) that are usually found along with gold in the gold mineral is … Show more

“…In the present study, a mesoporous Pd-TiO 2 photocatalyst active under visible light is considered. A key preparation step, photoreducing the Pd-TiO 2 using near-UV light is implemented to enhance its photocatalyst activity [33]. It is shown, that the near-UV light photoreduced mesoporous Pd-TiO 2 displays a 2.51 eV energy band gap.…”

“…The near-UV light photoreduced Pd-TiO 2 photocatalyst is evaluated in a Photo-CREC Water-II Reactor (PCW-II Reactor) under visible light [34]. Ethanol is employed as an organic scavenger to help with electron-hole separation [33]. The promoted mesoporous Pd-TiO 2 energy band gap reduction enhances light absorption in the visible region [35].…”
