Application of novel notched long-period fiber grating for glucose concentration measurement

Abstract

In this paper, we propose using notched long-period fiber grating (NLPFG) fabricated by inductively coupled plasma etching for glucose concentration measurements. The experimental results show that the wavelengths varied linearly with differing glucose concentrations. The sensitivity of the NLPFG glucose concentration sensor is %0.147 nm/wt % from 0-40 wt % and the linearity (R 2 ) is 0.938. The results demonstrate that the proposed NLPFG has potential for high-sensitivity glucose concentration sensor applications.
