“…Previous studies have researched the non-destructive identification of seed varieties based on hyperspectral imaging and machine learning or deep learning [ 4 , 9 , 17 , 18 , 24 26 , 48 , 49 ]. Although there might be a certain distance from the actual application due to a limited number of varieties in the training set, the successes of these studies guide the seed variety genuineness detection to ensure seed purity.…”

“…This method can effectively differentiate and classify target objects or predict crop traits by detecting subtle differences in chemical composition and distribution [ 17 20 ]. Moreover, considerable evidence indicates that spectral characteristics are genotype-specific and can be used to distinguish plant genotypes [ 21 ], suggesting the feasibility of identifying crop varieties by hyperspectral imaging [ 17 , 22 26 ].…”

“…The results showed the effectiveness of feature reduction. Bai et al (111) applied HSI (874-1,734 nm) to classify four varieties of common maize seed and four varieties of silage maize seeds. This work visualized hyperspectral images of the first six PCs of eight varieties of maize seed, which indicated that there were differences among different varieties of maize seeds.…”

“…The third type of methodology involves scanning the placed total layer of seeds with further analysis of their size using programs to analyse the fractionality of the image (Dilip & Sahu, 2017;Unajan et al, 2019;Bai et al, 2020).…”
