“…Although the introduction of auxiliary nanoparticles in the sonosensitizer system has improved the sensitivity of sonodynamic therapy to some extent, the clinical application of this composite system is limited by the poor stability, complex process and high cost. 13 Therefore, it is extremely challenging to develop a new type of sonosensitizer to solve the above problems. Recently, the sonodynamic characteristics of porphyrin-based MOF materials have also been developed.…”

“…Up to now, most research supports that US-related therapy produces a synergistic effect to cause cell death through multiple mechanisms, including US cavitation effect, ROS effect and US-induced apoptosis. 13 Nevertheless, the verification of the definitive mechanism of US-related therapy needs more evidence.…”

“…Thus, it is important to choose good sonosensitizers for the most effective and safe SDT [141]. High bioavailability and good biocompatibility are required for the ideal sonosensitizer [144], thus, testing the biosafety of sonosensitizers in SDT is critical. In terms of in vitro cytotoxicity and in vivo toxicity, a cell proliferation activity test and mouse bladder section injury observation were performed.…”

“…Compared with PDT, SDT has deeper tissue penetration, making it more feasible for deep tumor therapy. 141 The rapid clearance and low accumulation of sonosensitizers limit the treatment effect of SDT. Therefore, it is important to improve the targeted and accumulated capacities of sonosensitizers in tumor sites.…”
