Application of Mycorrhizae and Beauveria in Organic Farming System Effectively Control Leafminers and Enhance Shallot Production

Abstract: An increasing studies related with the detrimental effects of agrochemicals suggested the advantage of biofertilizers and biopesticides uses to support the sustainable farming system. This study aimed to evaluate the response of shallot 'Lembah Palu' with the application of arbuscular mycorrhizae (AM) and Beauveria bassiana (Bb) under organic farming system. A split-plot experiment was designed to combine Bb at two intervals (every 5 and 10 days) and AM with three rates (0; 5; and 10 g per plant). Leafminer po… Show more

“…The application of arbuscular mycorrhiza aid in the implementation of organic farming systems for shallot growing [33]. Another research indicates the complex control mechanisms to regulate the levels of free and conjugated auxins, which are locally and systemically induced during the early stages of the formation of an arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis [34].…”

“…Seed selection based on the origin of the seed location also shows different seed qualities and has an impact on crop productivity [2]. The negative impact of the use of chemical pesticides encourages researchers to develop the use of microorganisms to control pests and plant diseases (bio pesticides)) and efforts to improve soil fertility using microbes (biofertilizer)) [21].…”

“…The application of AMF inocula independently had a significant effect on the harvested dry tuber weight and harvested dry plant weight without treatment without AMF inocula. According to Saleh et al (2021), the addition of 10 g/plant of mycorrhizal fungi can increase shallot production by up to 8 tons/ha. Organic fertilizers independently have a significant effect on harvested dry tuber weight and harvested dry plant weight.…”
