Application of iOS/Android based assessment and monitoring system for building inventory under seismic impact

Abstract: The possibility of creating an "ID card" for each new and existing building in urban areas, based on transfer of necessary data into electronic format, is analysed in the paper. Local governments, public institutions, organizations, and building owners are thus able to obtain parametric information about the building using smart phones or tablets. Thanks to QR application, the access to building Inventory under seismic impact has become extremely fast and easily accessible via smart phones and tablets. The pro… Show more

“…Additionally, it is crucial to consider whether to demolish or strengthen these buildings by conducting the necessary inspections and structural analyses on the stock of existing structures that have not suffered heavy damage as a result of earthquakes. The first step of this application will be to identify the buildings that require a detailed inspection and to prioritize the risks by using rapid assessment techniques [39][40][41][42].…”

“…The information gathered by the latter helps the training of artificial neural networks in order to refine the evaluation of seismic vulnerability and the exposure of buildings. Still, in the framework of RVS, [82] proposes an 'identity card' of buildings stored in a remote database that is accessible through a QR code attached to each building in the study area. Finally, hazard and risk analyses performed according to GEM were translated into a digital tool [83].…”

“…Follows integration of the information relative to the vulnerability of man-made structures that should involve respective research results in Croatia and worldwide, study of local specific buildings, critical and essential infrastructure (hospitals, schools, bridges) and all other parameters that are needed for a more accurate assessment of physical damage. All databases must be continuously developed and extended, as well as adjusted to various needs [102]. The above mentioned clearly points to the need for linking together the experts in various related domains (integration of knowledge) and institutions (from national to local government units) through an appropriate platform (centre with legitimacy, such as IZIIS).…”
