Application of genetic algorithms to active vibration control of a centrifugal pendulum vibration absorber

Abstract: This paper presents a genetic algorithm (GA) controller for the active vibration control of a centrifugal pendulum vibration absorber (CPVA). The genetic algorithm is applied to search for the optimal solution for the regulation of the anti-resonance frequency in an active pendulum vibration absorber (APVA), which is operated by suppressing vibration of the carrier. The dynamic model of the APVA is developed and simulated using MATLAB. The simulation results reveal that the GA controller can find the optimal v… Show more

“…In order to overcome limitation of passive vibration absorbers, Chen et al (2005) developed an active dynamic absorber to retain the advantages of the conventional CPVA. The active pendulum absorber is simply a CPVA connected to a torque motor that acts as an actuator to drive the pendulum at adequate oscillatory amplitude (Liang and Tung, 2010). It has very wide range of operating frequencies.…”
