Application of fuzzy DEMATEL and fuzzy CODAS for analysis of workforce attributes pertaining to Industry 4.0: a case study

Abstract: PurposeThe aim of this study is to analyze workforce attributes related to Industry 4.0 using fuzzy decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) and fuzzy combinative distance-based assessment (CODAS).Design/methodology/approachTechnological trends stipulate various revolution in industries. Industry 4.0 is a vital challenge for modern manufacturing industries. Workforce adoption to such challenge is gaining vital importance. Therefore, such workforce-related attributes need to be identified for e… Show more

“…However, the CODAS technique gives results when crisp values are available. In order to present an MCDM technique, which enables to deal with uncertainties, this approach was extended in later studies (Keshavarz Ghorabaee et al, 2016a;Yalçın & Pehlivan, 2019;Vinodh & Wankhede, 2020;Roy et. al., 2019) with the help of the fuzzy set theory introduced by Zadeh (1965).…”

“…Flores et al (2020) addressed the changes in workforce competencies and presented a model for new type of interactions and new competencies that are required in Industry 4.0. Vinodh and Wankhede (2020) also worked on workforce attributes in Industry 4.0. They mentioned that, to deal with skill based technological changes and increase worker performance in Industry 4.0, it is essential to analyse attributes of the workforce.…”

“…Digitalization through Industry 4.0 results in new standards of digitalized and decentralized production, where elements of production are highly autonomous and there are strong interactions between systems, workers and machines (Caiado et al , 2021). Industry 4.0 transition alters all the operations, processes and organizational structure, and requires the redesign of the supply chain (Bag et al , 2020a, b; Patrucco et al , 2020; Vinodh and Wankhede, 2020). Companies have to deal with dynamic environment of Industry 4.0, and find ways to make high quality decisions that considers operational, tactical and strategic perspectives for competitive advantage (Bag et al , 2020d).…”

“…Recent studies (Soares et al, 2017;Basheer et al, 2019;Vinodh and Wankhede, 2020) show the relationship between quality management principles and supply chain performance. Hong et al (2018) analyze the importance of supply chain and quality management practices on the firm's operational performance.…”
