Application of Essential Oils Extracted From Peels of Oranges as a Partial Substitute of Flocculant

Abstract: STRESZCZENIE W pracy podjęto próbę określenia optymalnych warunków prowadzenia procesu mechanicznego odwadniania komunalnych osadów ściekowych oraz zmniejszenia nieprzyjemnych zapachów wydzielających się podczas tego procesu. Proces odwadniania komunalnych osadów ściekowych prowadzono w laboratoryjnej wirówce sedymentacyjnej typu MPW-350. Jako nadawę do procesu mechanicznego odwadniania zastosowano rzeczywisty ustabilizowany w wyniku fermentacji metanowej osad czynny, pobrany z Oczyszczalni Ścieków Jamno. Proc… Show more

“…Advantages, disadvantages and Field of application of odor masking [5] Advantages Disadvantages Field of application -moderate costs -ease of use and mobility -small storage area -sensitivity to changes in an odor concentration -possibility of secondary odor formation -dependence on the distance from the odor source -modernization of the installation -as a temporary solution -for a short period of time / seasonally -when it is possible to apply directly on the odor source Table 7 shows the sample results of laboratory tests on the masking of unpleasant odors using essential oils. In the presented studies [18,19,20], pine, lemon, and orange flavoring oils were used in two different concentrations of sewage sludge from municipal sewage treatment plants. The results indicate that, as the dose of the oil increases, the odor retention time increases.…”
