This was linked to the implementation of institutional and economic reforms, significant technological changes and improvements in the quality of human capital, as well as fiscal stabilisation policies. These changes affected their situation in the labour market. Purpose of the article: The aim of the study is to assess changes in the situation in the labour market in the EU with particular emphasis on the post-communist countries in the period 2002? 2019. Methods: The situation of countries in the European labour market was estimated using the TOPSIS method. A similarity matrix of changes in the composite variable for each country was then constructed using the Dynamic Time Warping method. On its basis, homogeneous clusters of countries were determined using the Ward?s method. Findings & value added: Four homogenous clusters of countries were formed. The post-communist ones belonged to two groups. In one, there were two countries ? Croatia and Slovakia. The rest of the post-communist countries were in a large cluster, which also included Germany, Malta, Finland, Portugal, France and Belgium. Changes of the situation in the post-communist countries in this group improved very much during the analysed period (this was particularly evident for Czechia, Estonia and Poland). It is interesting to investigate whether the reaction of labour markets to changes in the global economic situation in post-communist countries is similar to that in the old EU countries. The similarity of changes can be measured using the DTW method. There is an empirical research gap in this respect. Therefore, the added value is the use of this method in assessing similarities of changes in the labour market situation in post-communist countries in comparison to the Western European ones.

Economic factors influencing the health behavior changes during COVID-19 pandemic: multiple correspondence analysis results

This research aimed to investigate how health behaviors changed during the COVID-19 pandemic and to identify the economic factors influencing these changes. There were considered income situation and labor market situation as the potential economic factors. Additionally, in the analysis, there were included other characteristics: age, gender, and education level. Health condition was considered through the prism of certain unhealthy characteristics: alcohol consumption, smoking cigarettes, lack of physical activity, and unfavorable eating habits. The study was carried out on the stratified sample of adult inhabitants of Poland (N=1067) in November 2020. To achieve the aim multiple correspondence analysis was used. The results show that the pandemic has changed health behaviors. The negative changes mainly concerned physical activity and eating habits, and only one-sixth reported an increase in alcohol use and cigarette smoking. An increase in negative health behavior was mostly associated with the following characteristics: male, lower age (between 30 and 59), employed persons, tertiary education, and higher income (the fourth and the fifth income quintile group). The exception was a physical activity, where all changes (both negative and positive) were associated with females, people with basic vocational and secondary education, the second and third quintile group, pensioners and retirees, 60 and above age.

Research background: The study was conducted and based on the project The assessment of mental condition, financed by the Ministry of Health as part of the National Health Program for 2016–2020 (operational objective 3: Prevention of mental health problems and improvement of mental well-being of society). The article focuses on a group of teachers and university lecturers from eight voivodeships selected for the study, whereas burnout was selected from the areas of mental disorders.Purpose: The main objective of the study was to identify the regularities in the relationship between the level of professional burnout and selected demographic characteristics in the group of teachers and university lecturers. Additionally, the spatial diversity of the percentage of respondents diagnosed with occupational burnout was examined.Research methodology: Two methods from the multi-dimensional statistical analysis were used: a classification tree analysis, and a correspondence analysis.Results: The methods used allowed to classify the studied professional group in terms of the degree of occupational burnout. The results obtained using both the classification trees and multidimensional correspondence analysis allowed the identification of similar regularities regarding the impact of demographic variables on the level of occupational burnout.Novelty: The application of multidimensional statistical analysis methods to study mental health based on individual, unique data from eight Polish voivodeships.
