Application of Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound in the Differential Diagnosis of Different Molecular Subtypes of Breast Cancer

Abstract: To explore the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in the differential diagnosis of molecular subtypes of breast cancer. Sixty-two cases of breast cancer were divided into luminal epithelium A or B subtype (luminal A/B), Her-2 over-expression subtype and triple negative subtype (TN). CEUS and routine ultrasonography were performed for all patients before surgery. (1) The luminal epithelium subtype contrast enhancement pattern was more likely to present with radial edge (76.92%, p < 0.05) and low pe… Show more

“…In the current study, LA subtype was discriminated by synchronous enhancement, and iso-or hypoenhancement, indicating low perfusion, which was consistent with previous research reports. 17 In the QLAB software, AUC reflects the total perfusion intensity from the time of contrast agent arrival to 3 min, and PI reflects the intensity of the highest point of the curve. In the TIC, the AUC of the LA subtype was significantly lower than that of the H2 and TN subtypes, and the PI was significantly lower compared with the other three subtypes.…”

“…The classification of CEUS perfusion patterns was based on our clinical experience and previous literature. 17 We evaluated eight qualitative features. The enhancement speed, that is, the order of enhancement of the lesion relative to the surrounding breast tissue during the rise time (synchronous enhancement, fast enhancement).…”

“…For the classification of relevant instances, radio frequency data amplitude parameters known as Nakagami are used. Using contrast-enhanced perfusion and patterns, the author proposed breast cancer molecular subtypes [ 39 ]. The proposed improvement is important in the differential diagnosis of breast cancer subtypes.…”
