Application of concordance analysis method (CA) for optimal selection of asphalt mixtures reinforced with rubber powder and carbon fiber

Abstract: Unlike the conducted studies in the field of reinforcing the asphaltic mixture, this research has used the multi-criteria decision-making method to determine the optimal percentage of the asphalt mix, which was reinforced with rubber powder and carbon fibers. After adding different percentages of two kinds of additives, i.e. rubber powder and carbon fibers conjointly, conducting Marshall Tests, analyzing the data and plotting the needed diagrams, it was observed that adding these two additives leads to a chang… Show more

“…% were deemed economically unfeasible. The same authors evaluated the influence of adding carbon nanofibers as mechanical reinforcement on the cost-benefit ratio of rubberized mixtures . Results showed that adding 0.5% nanofibers to asphalt modified with 15% rubber powders improved the Marshall stability by 42% and was considered the most cost-effective mixture among the mixtures with 0.5 wt.…”

“…In this paper, six parameters of Marshall Test including as well as the cost of the construction of one kilometer of asphalt were selected(unlike previous research [12]) as evaluation criteria in the concordance analysis. Therefore, seven factors entered in the calculations as a factor (j).…”

“…Many researchers have suggested the modification of asphalt mixes using additives, and a majority of those additives have produced high-quality outcomes. Hence, modifying the properties of asphalt mixture using additives is of paramount importance in achieving the goal mentioned above [11][12][13][14][15][16][17].…”

“…Among these materials, nanomaterial have been used due to their inherent properties, especially in asphalt mixtures. Improvements in mechanical properties such as fatigue strength, rutting depth, elastic modulus, and other engineering properties are among these results (Rafi et al, 2018;Barati et al, 2020;Zahedi et al, 2017b;Zahedi and Zarei, 2016;Zahedi et al, 2017b;Zarei et al, 2020a;Zahedi et al, 2020a). Nano carbon black is one of the nanomaterial that has recently been considered in the pavement industry.…”
