Application of bacterial colony chemotaxis optimization algorithm and RBF neural network in thermal NDT/E for the identification of defect parameters

Abstract: a b s t r a c tThe identification of defect parameters in thermal non-destructive test and evaluation (NDT/E) was considered as a kind of inverse heat transfer problem (IHTP). However, it can be further considered as a shape optimization problem, and then a structure design optimization problem, and the design results should meet the surface temperature profile of the apparatus with defects. A bacterial colony chemotaxis (BCC) optimization algorithm and a radial basis function (RBF) neural network (NN) are app… Show more

“…Bacterial chemotaxis style [41,42] FOA and chaos optimization [43][44][45] FOA are selected for comparison analysis. Bacterial chemotaxis style takes advantage of the bacterium's reaction to chemoattractants to find the optimum, which can increase robustness of the FOA.…”

“…The BCC algorithm is an excellent swarm intelligent algorithm with global search capability, fast convergence speed and high precision. Miiller et al [21] and Kou et al [22] provided the two‐dimension model and an optimising process. We do not elaborate on these methods further.…”

“…In spite of their simple aspect, they obtain information about their milieu, guide themselves in this milieu, and use efficiently these data to survive. They constitute one of the simplest life forms on Earth [22]. Fig.…”

“…This trajectory is typified by a length, a direction, and a velocity,  The velocity is constant for all trajectories,  A probability distribution governs the new direction after the bacterium turns, and the angle between consecutive trajectories as well,  A probability distribution exponential governs the trajectory length,  Angle and length probability distributions are independent from the precedent trajectory. The Gaussian probability density distribution is used to define, in the ( , ) plane, the new direction of ∅ , where ∅ is an angle calculated from and taken for choosing between two possible directions [22]. A bacterium is composed of six rigid rotating flagella governing its motion ability and its foraging behavior [9].…”
