Application of additive technologies for manufacturing turbine stator parts in aircraft engines

Abstract: Continuous development of additive technologies and fast prototyping methods makes it possible to use them in manufacturing of complex shape models to a high precision. The traditional technological manufacture process of critical hot gas path parts by investment casting is expensive and time consuming in view of its technological complexity. It is related to the wax casting process which provides complex profiles with high geometrical accuracy. The acceleration of the investment casting process should increas… Show more

“…Despite all the advances in additive technologies and the growing number of applications, many attempts to qualify load-bearing structural parts are a very difficult challenge, and many parts in the aviation sector do not pass certification tests [17][18][19][20][21][22]. Additive products have a wide range of utility, and structural and mechanical specifications.…”

“…Today, in production conditions, the wall thicknesses of the blade back and the pressure side of the blade workpiece are controlled by the ultrasonic method using overhead templates. Special technological grooves make it possible to measure during serial control of blades in similar areas of blade workpieces [8][9][10].…”
