Application of Acyzol in the Context of Zinc Deficiency and Perspectives

Abstract: Zinc is one of the most important essential trace elements. It is involved in more than 300 enzyme systems and is an indispensable participant in many biochemical processes. Zinc deficiency causes a number of disorders in the human body, the main ones being the delay of growth and puberty, immune disorders, and cognitive dysfunctions. There are over two billion people in the world suffering from zinc deficiency conditions. Acyzol, a zinc-containing medicine, developed as an antidote against carbon monoxide poi… Show more

“…Also, inadequacy of zinc in diets has been associated with attenuated activity of the osteoblast, and reduced synthesis of collagen and proteoglycans in the presence of reduced phosphatase activity (Tapiero & Tew, 2003). In addition to inadequate dietary zinc intake, deficiency of zinc may result from impaired absorption or resorption or increased excretion of zinc, and several pathologic statuses including chronic diarrhea, extensive burns, or traumatic and surgical wounds (Aliev et al., 2019).…”

“…The high tendency to coordination to metal centers and formation of molecular complexes, as in the case of polymeric structures, is a source of diverse applications such as pharmacologically active species. 18,19 A survey of the CCDC database and literature reveals that exclusively nitrogen bound ligands are present in transition metal vinyl imidazole complexes. A quite large selection of complexes for lighter transition metals is published.…”

“…This finding supports the suggestion that such zinc homeostasis imbalance is the underlying pathophysiologic mechanism for the development of alopecia areata. In our view, zinc depletion has an important role in the development of alopecia areata [10][11][12][13][14][15]. Therefore, alopecia areata can be attributed to an underlying, long-undiagnosed, zinc deficiency state [16,17].…”

“…Although specific markers of zinc deficiency have not been reported [15][16][17], we summarized the literature in Table 2. In our experience, biomarkers from blood samples -particularly when lowered initially -may be useful Twenty-five case subjects were determined using 1,376 individuals with adverse events to nonessential metal toxicants.…”
